POSTDIGITAL +

European Training Network on Post-Digital Computing +

What we do

The training and research program of Doctoral Network (DN) project POSTDIGITAL+ timely addresses current and pressing demands by society and economy in the information processing sector by employing unconventional hardware for artificial intelligence (AI). As the demand for data processing and communication bandwidth skyrockets, traditional von Neumann architectures are reaching their physical and energy consumption limits. DN POSTDIGITAL+ leverages novel concepts to overcome the widely recognized efficiency wall of classical AI hardware. POSTDIGITAL+ tackles this growing efficiency gap by leveraging neuromorphic and physics-inspired computing technologies, offering significant advantages in processing power and energy efficiency. The future of Europe’s economy requires engineers and researchers capable to design, develop and implement emerging ICT technologies to meet and enforce the dramatically accelerating data-driven transformation of economy, public and government activities. By training a cohort of 17 highly skilled doctoral candidates, network enhances spreading of expertise across the European academic and industrial sectors.

17 Doctoral Candidates

POSTDIGITAL+ will recruit and train 17 highly skilled Doctoral Candidates (DCs). The training program follows the MSCA principles of excellence, mobility, and career development, offering DCs hands-on experience through secondments with leading academic institutions, research centres, and industrial partners, including IBM, Thales, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Belgium. By fostering a strong collaborative network across academia and industry, POSTDIGITAL+ ensures that its DCs gain the technical and transferable skills necessary to drive Europe’s leadership in AI and sustainable ICT innovation.

Consortium

The POSTDIGITAL+ consortium brings together internationally renowned experts from academia, research institutions, and industry leaders, forming a uniquely interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration. Complementing the academic excellence, POSTDIGITAL+ partners with globally recognised industry leaders, including IBM, Thales, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Belgium, as well as high-tech start-ups NcodiN, Akhetonics, and VLC Photonics, driving the transition from fundamental research to industrial application. These industry partners provide real-world challenges, hands-on training opportunities, and pathways for technology translation, ensuring that the research remains relevant to future ICT demands.
